Blog: Merry New Year

I hope everyone had a beautiful Christmas and as we head into the New Year of 2017 I wanted to share a few of my 2016 highlights.

In 2016 I discovered new books and authors that will stay with me as long as the author is writing the series.

I discovered that short stories still capture my sense of adventure.

I discovered that binge watching movies is not a waste of time if it brings down your blood pressure.

On a different front of 2016: I became a great grandmother.
Reconnected with my daughter and her family. 
I also reconnected with my childhood friend and her family.

By way of youtube, I taught myself how to crochet. 

I learned how much my cyber friends mean to me.

On a sad note, we lost so many great authors, writers, actors, directors, singers, artist, sonwriters, musicians, comedians and people in our circle of family and friends.

The world dims a little at the thought of losing so many and a few I will miss is Zee I never met her but she was a friend in a group or two and I will always think of her as a special and a wonderful friend.

One actress stands out and that is Patty Duke. I also say there are a ton of character actors that I will miss.
Anyway enough on this topic tonight.
Now for my library moment, I was thrilled when some of the ladies from our library agreed to be interviewed. This way I could let our bloggers know that Parsons Kansas has interesting people, places,, and events. 
Stay tuned there will be more library adventures and interviews. I will space them out and I also want to interview more quilters, artists, and writers.

Blog: What are you reading this week? By Pamela James

My books that I am reading will be listed below. First I have to say that at our library this week we have "Diana Mott Davidson's Books on display." This very nice for our local culinary mystery lovers. 

Here is the list of my books. Then I want to know what has your attention this week.

1. A DEADLY GRIND by VICTORIA HAMILTON this is a paperback copy from the library.

2. HOME BY NIGHTFALL by CHARLES FINCH hardback copy from the library.

3. A ANTHEM for DOOMED YOUTH by CAROLA DUNN hardback large type from our library.

4. The BIG KITTY by CLAIRE DONALLY this is one I own and it's a paperback. 

5. CAT SHOUT for JOY by SHIRLEY ROUSSEAU MURPHY this is also a library book that is a softback large type book.

Okay these books have my top attention.

Blog: Library trip Monday night by Pam James

Good Morning Everyone,

I think I figured out how to add pictures to my post this morning. Anyway I made a library trip Monday evening.
I returned one book and picked out three more to read. Here is what I picked up to read.
Copy Cap Murder by Jenn McKinlay this is from her hat shop series. Now Frank also picked up on Saturday for me At The Drop of A Hat by Jenn McKinlay. This author doesn't ever write a bad book.
Moving along I also picked up The Book Stops Here by Kate Carlisle this is from her Bibliophile Series.
Then I went a little more retro with SHROUD FOR A NIGHTINGALE by P.D. James and realized that I had already read this book. It will go back probably on Wednesday or Frank will take it back on the 19th because I have another book due back on that date.

That is my library trip for this time. I know one of the library staff will call me this week as they are processing a few other books I might like to read.

I did want to add that I will be on again off again over the next month. All is probably nothing to worry about I just have many things going on so I will more than likely be in and out.

Malice Domestic is just around the corner and I want to read as many books by our authors as I can so I will be able to say, "I knew that was a good book." ;)

I know Lea Wait Mystery books is one series Sue one of our front desk techs is happy to start reading since I know she will love this series. I also told her about Amanda Lee's series, I think she will enjoy Melissa Bourbon's series and I think she has started reading the Eva Gates Library Lighthouse Series.

Anyway I hope you having the luck of the Irish with your tbr pile of books this month.

My library trip last night

The DOUBLE CROSS By CLARE O'DONOHUE (A Someday Quilt Mystery Series)

TAKEN IN By ELIZABETH LYNN CASEY (Southern Sewing Circle Mystery Series)

SPADE & ARCHER By JOE GORES (The Prequel to Dashiell Hammett's -The Maltese Falcon)

LITTLE INDISCRETIONS By CARMEN POSADAS (A DELECTABLE MYSTERY)

This will be helpful. I am also reading a great book on my kindle set in the 1940's shade of Sam Spade. It's in the bedroom so I will have tell you the title when I add it to my book journal list.

Current Read AUNT DIMITY and the WISHING WELL it should be finished tonight.

Pam's Library Trip

Well I am a couple of days behind on things. So when the library loan lady called and said I had a book in, I didn't rush out the door.

However I did go to the library tonight. The book was by Maggie King, MURDER at the BOOK GROUP. I m excited to read this book.

While there I happen to see another Aunt Dimity Book, so I had to have it AUNT DIMITY & the SUMMER KING, well as was on my way back to the counter I happen to see A FINE SUMMER'S DAY by Charles Todd, this is an Inspector Ian Rutledge Mystery but as I looked to the back cover I noticed there is a Bess Crawford Series. I don't think my library has that series. I want to interview the mother and son writing team. Would love to find a copy of the Bess Crawford series and I will probably have to locate another Rutledge book in the series.

I love it when visiting the library is like eating Lays Potato Chips and you can't just checkout one book. LOL

Holiady Book Shopping

I hope your holiday shopping leaves everyone with some down time to read. Also don't forget to add book books for the readers in your family.

Okay speaking of books. Last night I made a trek to the public library and here are the books and author I brought home with me.

First is Carolyn Hart's GHOST GONE WILD( A Bailey Ruth Evans Ghost Novel), 

Then is, 

A LACK OF TEMPERANCE (A HATTIE DAVISH MYSTERY) by Anna Loan Wilsey. This is a a new to me author and series. I got mine in large type hardback. It of course is an historical mystery series. It is set in Eureka Springs Arkansas in 1892.

Hattie is a traveling secretary and when she arrives to he new job she finds that her employer has disappeared.

Next up is M.C. Beaton's Agatha Raisin Mystery Series. THE BLOOD OF AN ENGLISHMAN

Well, with this title I had to check the book out. I have read this series. Some of the books I like. Some... well... not so much. I will get back to you.

Last is Sall Goldenbaum's latest:  Angora Alibi(A seaside knitters Mystery). 

Okay that was all o the library books...

Now while in Kansas City last week I picked up Mrs. Jeffries The MERRY GENTLEMEN (A Christmas Mystery) and his is an historical series set in London by Emily Brightwell.  

 I also picked up Leigh Perry's A Family Skeleton Mystery (this is also a series. The book I picked is THE SKELETON TAKES A BOW.

Now I love this series and the skeleton is named Sid. LOL

Lastly, while at the grocery store last night, they had in paperback CHRISTMAS CAROL MURDER by Leslie Meir. So I bought it.
