Let's Make Salad:
What kind of summer pasta salads do you like? I like bacon ranch salad and then I have my favorite other salads as well and like a good book there is always something fun to eat this time of year. I even make tuna salad and add diced apples, cinnamon and carrots to it. Nice healthy salad on lettice leaf. That with a glass of iced tea just seems to hit the spot on when the heat spikes.
I am always looking for ways not to use the oven this time of year. Do you have a favorite place to eat that has your favorite summer salad? Do you ever take your salad to the deck or patio outside to eat while you're reading a good book?
Tell us about the best salad you ever had and what made it sooo good?
Today is all about the salads in your life it might be fun to even compare it with writing a book or book reviews.
I love Greek Salads, green leafy salads with lots of fixins (including radishes - I LOVE radishes), french vinegarettes, caesar salads, egg salads, tomato, basil and fresh mozzerella salads...

ReplyDeleteI particularly like it with Ken's steakhouse basil vinegarette on it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I forgot to add cucumber salads to my favorites
I like the salad at Panera Bread with the strawberries, blueberries, etc. - Stawberry Poppyseed Salad. In fact, I'll be having it tonight.

First off, I eat several Greek salads weekly...I love them and they are my absolute favorite...The pasta salad that I love is pasta (of course) with carrots, radishes, cucumbers, onions, string cheese and a vinegarette dressing..After it sits in the fridge, it is sooooooo tasty..perfect for a lazy warm afternoon, eating anywhere with a good book..
ReplyDeleteSkye - I eat Greek Salads about once a week. Cosi makes a good one.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite salad is chicken with Miracle Whip, dried cranberries, walnuts, celery, and apple chunks. I can eat just that for dinner. LOL
ReplyDeleteMare,
ReplyDeleteI make that salad too except since I do not care for walnuts I use pecans. YUMMY......and so easy to make.
My favorite is a garden salad. Whatever fresh veggies I can get out of the garden I cut up & throw into a bowl with lettuce. Then I add cheese, whatever leftover meat I have from the night before & Western dressing. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI like homemade pasta salad. Spiral pasta with fresh veggies cut up -- carrots, peppers, tomatoes, and black/green olives. Mix it all up with light Italian dressing and chill. Yummo!
ReplyDeleteMares salad sounds wonderful! I love lettuce salad with fresh tomatoes and if I can have whatever I want in it I'll take ham, eggs, cheese, bacon, black olives, carrots, sunflower seeds and green onion.
ReplyDeleteOh and I prefer pecans to walnuts too.

Oh I forgot the dressing. Ranch is my preference but I could do blue cheese.

I make my own full meal concoction and what goes in it sometimes depends on what is on hand or in season. I take a lettuce mix (iceberg, leaf, spinach, endive, carrot slivers, etc.) then add what ever of the following I have: some cooked chicken tender (grilled or breaded) or lunch meat that is rolled cigar style and sliced across making little pinwheels, chopped onions, diced fresh tomatoes or whole grape tomatoes, some sort of cheese usually sliced sticks of string cheese or some pre-grated pizza or taco cheese, sometimes some bacon, captains wafers (crackers)on the side with a honey french or catalina dressing. YUMM!!!!
